8 pages? Really? I wish I had noticed that before I bought it, because I could have written this book myself in the time it takes to watch a single TV show. For the price, I probably wouldn't have cared much if it had been good, but each prompt in this book is nothing more than a random sentence (many of which aren't even very interesting or thought-provoking). You could go to your bookshelf, randomly pick sentences from different books, and you'd have prompts like these. Most of the other writing prompt books I've bought have been 30-60 pages of well thought-out prompts, which seems appropriate for a 99 cent to $2.99 book. This was just a huge disappointment all around.

100 Story Starters Writing Prompts To JumpStart Your Imagination edition by Alaina Marks Reference eBooks Reviews
This is such an intriguing concept and will be very beneficial for those soon to be best seller novelists! I'm a fan of Alaina Marks talent.
stupid.
Who would have thought to do this!
A great idea for the start of an idea for a book plot or writers block in the planning stages or even as you are writing and want to spice things up or add another dimension to your story.
This book will help kick your muse into action.
You could even string a few of the sentences to expand on a plot or do something really random like close your eyes and pick three sentences then write a story around them - the ideas are endless.
I must admit, I am always writing down first lines - never thought to make a book of them rather than from them;-) Reading someone else's first lines gives me several good ideas!!!
Great for a writer like me who is thinking of a short story but just can't think of something that will say a short story. It was very fun.
Even if you come away with only a handful of ideas, the inexpensive price was worth it. Remember, you can also combine the individual ideas, so that helps, too.
This book is very short. It's entirely one-liners. But if you let your imagination run, no telling where you'll end up! In my opinion it does what it promises.
There are lots of ways to get the creative juices flowing, and this is one I'm sure I'll come back to. Sometimes when I'm looking for a new idea or a new connection, I'll pick up a dictionary and just scan several pages. My mind creates the links between the words that pop out at me, and I get a fresh perspective that lets me move forward. I think of this book in the same manner - something to pick up and scan through anytime I want a new perspective or idea.
Don't expect full blown anything - but these one-liners could easily spark into plots, characters and twists if you're feeling stuck.
